CameraPainting

CameraPainting, originally uploaded by dalviaw.

So I wanted to try to a little painting. I took this by spinning the camera. I loved the colors showing in the room. But being low light the subjects would have been out of focus. All and all not to bad.

Patience

Patience, originally uploaded by dalviaw.

Since I have started to the daily photo. I am amazed at how much more calm I am while driving. I now grab my camera and relax into capture mode looking for a shot. I hope that this will continue. This string of containers was blocking my way home on Wednesday I knew it was going to be slow and long when I saw a railroad engineer hanging off the railcar. This is my first self portrait since the daily photo. My trusty NIkon D60 and 35mm lens.

Question

Question, originally uploaded by dalviaw.

Does a photo in your mind taken the next day count as the daily photo? Answer for me is yes. I saw this yesterday Tuesday the 28th and the day got the better of me. I really wanted to get home and this photo slipped my mind. The contrast is what caught my eye.

Sock Monkey and Friends

Sock Monkey and Friends, originally uploaded by dalviaw.

I knew this was going to happen Baby has taken over the daily photo. When I get home all I can do is try to get more organized and today we put all the toys in the crib as temporary storage. I need to build the cabinet to hold them. I took the shot with available light. I like the motion in the mobile and the prominent yellow giraffe. Mary's Aunt Linda made it for us. Flippin' Cute.

This little man is the greatest. He has such great facial expressions. Owen is six and half months. Taken at the golden hour at our favorite haunt. Sunday with friends in the patio can't complain.

The Crib

The Crib, originally uploaded by dalviaw.

The bambino's bed is made and ready. Hopefully he likes elephants. Mary has a great eye for the details. It is really cute. I had a lot of shots to get this color correct. I ended up using a Manual White Balance to get the whites right.

Nice Sign

Nice Sign, originally uploaded by dalviaw.

Mels Diner in Seal Beach is an old Parasol building. Food is not good! But the signage is done well. We'll see how long marketing can keep them around. It had another sign that said Under New Management. Hopefully for them it will work out. I really like the contrast in this shot. Night Shot taken with my 18-200 VR lens is a lot harder to get depth of field. The White Sign helped to get enough light to get a good effect.

Used and Abused

Used and Abused, originally uploaded by dalviaw.

These trusty glasses have been through the trenches. If the sun is out, I have sunglasses with me. I have worn sunglasses everyday since I was 15. So this year I think they have officially become an appendage. 16 years of wearing sunglasses. I have enjoyed shopping and owning the right pair for different times in my life. I have found memories looking through sunglasses. Wow, if the lenses recorded what I saw. My Oakley Frogs(Clear with Blue Lenses),Dragons,Arnettes,Locs,Ray Bans, Persols, Oakley's, Versace, The $5 sunglasses, Carls Jr Give aways,MY BLU BLOCKERS and of course my Dad's glasses as a Carrera's. What a good ride.....

My Beach

My Beach, originally uploaded by dalviaw.

This photo was taken at Movie Night on the Beach. Every Tuesday during July and August the city groups put this event on. Mary and I enjoy friends and old movies, ooh yeah Vino on the beach as well. Since it is just across the street it makes it very easy to go.

I liked the light on this photo. Fooling around with the Sony has turned out some good shot and some bad ones. This shot was taken to show Tara about white balance on a camera. The shots from this daily photo where nothing to even talk about. On another note Mary and I are 90% sure we are going to do Louis James D'Alvia 365. The family can have a daily dose of the little one. Plus I am really excited that Mary will be helping in the project and expanding her use of camera. Maybe we could become a 3 blog family.

NightFlower

NightFlower, originally uploaded by dalviaw.

This little blossom is at our favorite patio. Summertime is all about BBQ so we met up with some friends Adam and Tara at The Wine Crush Patio and I cooked up some Paela. Great end to the weekend. Great Wine, Good Friends, and Food. My sister in law and Nephew came through for some food and desert as well. This is another shot with Sony DSC-H10 not sold but I am working with it.

On Saturday we were thrown a Baby Barbeque. At the perfect time the boys brought out some cigars so the presents with added gogoo gaga's and ahhhhhhh's could be left for the more willing participants. It was a great time. In the photo is the my brother Adam is telling a story with Lev and Bobby listening attentively. I took the opportunity to take The Daily Photo.

Friday after work turned out to be a great start to the weekend. Mary and I went to dinner at Beachwood BBQ one of our favorite spots. Getting finished at the perfect time for great light and camera in tow. I made Mary throw on my fleece and walk to the water. How beautiful she looks. Still smiling even though sleep and being comfortable at 35 weeks pregnant is a luxury long forgotten. I can't wait for the days to come.

Dandelion

Dandelion, originally uploaded by dalviaw.

Trying out a new camera. I dropped my point and shoot which I use for work. Not sure if it is going to make it. Around the office we had a new Sony Cybershot DSC-H10. I was testing its abilities today. So far it seems pretty good. Vibration Reduction (NIKON PLUG) works well and the camera is a little bigger allowing for a better hold. This photo is taken with Macro setting and WHITE Balance set to daylight.

Junk?

Junk?, originally uploaded by dalviaw.

I drive by these broken oil pumps on the way home. I find it hard to believe that huge pieces of metal could not be used for some good. Some sort of product should be able to be made from these. Ooh well I am on a rant. I like sepia tone I think it helped to get the point across. These had seen better day.

Digital Darkroom

Digital Darkroom, originally uploaded by dalviaw.

On Day 33. I took this shot for a customer. Any guesses on the item? The digital grain in my point and shoot has gone to new levels. From bad to worse. I guess dropping it didn't help. Well one more drop off the forklift and I will have to request a new camera.

DAY32

DAY32, originally uploaded by dalviaw.

This was a work picture and the only photo I took yesterday. So funny I completely spaced that my camera was in the car while at the laundry mat. I kept finding all these things to shoot when I was waiting for the loads to be done.

GrandEntry

GrandEntry, originally uploaded by dalviaw.

This house is on our block. It is a remodel that was just finished in the last couple months. This house prior to remodel was a little California Bungalow just okay. It is a WOW on the block. It was really done well. The remodel was started right as the real estate market went south. AlI could say was how smart. The owner probably couldn't have timed it better. Increase you equity position in a down market. WORD! What a way to capitalize on a down market and make your dream home. Forget just a kitchen and bath.

I really like the light on this place at night.

Walk With Sally

White Light. White Night. This charity event was to show support for Walk With Sally. My cousin Darin is a board member for this great cause. I had a great time I really liked the white party. It shows solidarity for the cause. Gavin from BUSH showed up for a private concert and the martini's weren't bad either. What a night.

Plugged

The generation of Tattoos and Piercing is here. Flair for the body. I what I was fighting for 10 years ago is here. The CEO,Criminal,Athlete,Cop,Fireman, and average joe has common ground. Also all cultures and demographics has tattoos. I would say in California the population is bound to know at least one person that has taken there self expression to a place that many can see enjoy or question. I like this form of expression the self guided rebellion could switch some day soon. When rebellion will be not to get tattoos. Only time will tell.

AdventureMarket

AdventureMarket, originally uploaded by dalviaw.

First thing I can say about this photo is it is from Sunday. I was using my point and shoot last night and the ISO 800 setting is awful. To much digital grain. Not post worthy. But this photo, I thought the light and shadows were great on this market ( Food Stand). It is amazing how every detail is meticulously thought out. How a simple wall at Disneyland have the perfect piece of artwork, pipe, light, or anything else to make it stand out.

Everyone once and awhile my friend Marcus and I relax on a Wednesday and enjoy the patio of his shop. Well the patio had a pregnant lady that was getting sick from the smoke. So we moved out front. GREAT! Another couple of Goomba's sitting on the stoop enjoying the finer things. This photo was taken in the golden hour check the reflection in the port bottle. Pretty cool.

Lantern

Lantern, originally uploaded by dalviaw.

What can I say about this lantern. I have walked by this probably 10 times a day for years. Thanks to the daily photo I pulled it out of its hidey hole and put in some more redeeming light. As dusty and old as it is,the slight shimmer still comes through the grit and grim. Maybe I will give this old lantern a bath and see what sparkle I can get..

To Be Determined

To Be Determined, originally uploaded by dalviaw.

As a baby shower gift we received a sock monkey. I love searching out origins of items with history and at 11 PM and no other photos taken this little monkey in the corner was screaming pick me for a photo. More low light practice to be prepared for the big days ahead.

THE HISTORY:
The old-fashioned, handcrafted sock monkey dolls made with Original Rockford Red Heel® socks from Fox River Mills have become a favorite piece of "Americana" over the years. Intended and worn even today as work socks, mothers in the early 1900's fashioned these Rockford socks into sock monkeys for their children. Clever crafters have been making Sock Monkeys and other animal sock dolls ever since. In 1890, Nelson Knitting began manufacturing these Red Heeled socks. Fox River Mills purchased Nelson Knitting in 1992. Today, the instructions for making these dolls are still included in each package of authentic Red Heel Monkey socks. Crafters have been lovingly making Sock Monkeys for generations.

Mary and I had a great weekend! To top off the weekend we went to Disneyland with mother-in-law and father-in-law. Jim hadn't been to Disneyland in 20 years. We had a great time and really enjoyed a relaxing day with them. Shane and Vinny our nephews showed up later to watch the fireworks and have ice cream.
