I am not really sure what to call this but the peanut gallery (Tom and Becky) said a jax or a decahedron. So DecaJax! Lame I know. It is after wikipedia look up a Star Polygon 9/4 or just over my head. The green background was a Mary's tank top folded up. I really liked the contrast.

Queen Mary
After reading an article in the LBPOST and My Mary was napping when I was driving home, I took a detour. The articles was discussing what to do with the Queen Mary and if the QM is even historical enough to keep. Well I drove over the bridge and was pleasantly surprised about how nice it looked. Yes it is old. It isn't a huge crowd draw. But it is an icon of this city and deserves it place to rest. I would bet that people come to visit Long Beach cannot miss this sleeping giant. According to History Winston Churchill said this vessel made it possible for WWII to come to end a year early. Wow! What you learn while finding places to go out and shoot. I thought it was appropriate to write about it today.

Dinner
So Saturday Mary and I had a fun filled day of cleaning and cleaning and cleaning. So the only interesting shot I could get was of the menu of the italian restaurant we went to for dinner. Boy, did I really see how life gets in the way of hobbies. I think I am going to set a little area in the house for still photos somewhere I can grab something interest in the house a shoot away.

58
My Aunt Carol turned 58 this weekend. SO why the 57 well because she told everyone it was her 57 birthday to see if anyone was doing the math besides her. We went to her place and played a board game called The Settlers of Catan. Interesting with a ton of rules and ways to get ahead. MARY WON!!! I think the cousins were taking it easy on her! It was a lot of fun and most of all I think my aunt had a good time.

Petrified Tree
In front the of LBMA museum there is a huge petrified tree stump. At 10 PM this stump was full of shadows. Tonight, stretched the limits of my point and shoot(OUCH). This was the only photo that I like. To much digital grain in the other photos. But,you only need 1 for The Daily Photo and without taking on a project like this I would have just passed it by. As for my photography it is getting much better. Setting the camera up to get the correct exposure is becoming second nature. A little piece of advice to all digital camera owners learn White balance, and ISO with no flash and shoot away and you will be amazed at the photos you can get.

Sprayers
These are sprayers from crop dusting unit set for export. As my friend Bill has said the daily photo can get a little hard to find anything of interest. Trying to look at an pieces of machinery in an artistic light can be difficult. Also it was funny but i had to make sure I got the photos that would actually help in the loading of this freight. YES! I almost forgot to get those. NO WHERE NEAR interesting. I thought these sprayers just stood out as interesting.

This is a picture of a pin from an open container or Flat Rack. This pin is holding 1/2 ton wall in place from falling. Amazing!!!

Long Beach Boot
With Long Beach striving to find money for the budget it is about time the DENVER Boot was put into use. I mean come on YOU must have a ton of unpaid parking tickets to get the boot. I wonder what it cost to get that removed. The bright orange boot, I am sure it made the Belmont Shore the residents sign on and pay the tickets to the city. It sure made me double check Mary's beetle for unpaid tickets.

The Laugh
My niece Sarah is so cute. Anytime I have my camera I can't wait to get photo to capture her growing up.
Veggie Flower
Our Friends Tim and Allison have an awesome little garden. When I saw the red cabbage I loved the color contrast and the blue green color. We ventured into the jalepeno's as well. WOW! They are much hotter from a garden!!! Still loving the 35mm 1.8g lens.

Rooftop Stars
My friend Bill sent warning when trying to complete The Daily Photo. Sometimes you only have time to shoot at the 11th hour. On day VIII I am seeing the what he meant. I like this rooftop photo and learning how to make the star effect on the available light is very cool. I feel night photography adds a layer of difficulty that is fun to explore. Since the new baby is on the way I could see that night photos could become something I have the learn and embrace.

Label Envy
If you know the weekly habits of Mary and I. It normally involves catching up with some friends at The Wine Crush. We taste, laugh, decompress, and enjoy all of the wine California and abroad has to offer. The reason I call this Label Envy is if I had a winery. I would be looking to have a label that was similar. Classic but New. Something that has respect for the history and that is right for the times.
VII DAYS COMPLETED!!!!!

DrippingLight
On the last night of the available light photography class at LB Parks. I snapped this photo. The dripping light was caused because I didn't take the VR (Vibration Reduction) causing a very cool effect. I had the instructor stumped asa we looked at the photo. I couldn't believe how much fun and it was to unplug for 3 weeks and learn more about photography. I took the class with my cousin in law and friend Steve. I hope that later Steve and I can just go out and shoot.

BucketOBolts
Interesting how rust can add character to anything. This bucket of bolts caught my eye. I knew the rusty reds would pop in the camera. I tightened the histogram and the photo really jumped. Today I used my point and shoot SONY to get my daily photo. I have taken a little time to learn the camera and I am much happier with the quality of the photos I am able to produce.

The Reason
This is the camera that started it all for me. The one I aspired to be. This is my Dad's camera. With my first born on the way, is my Nikon D60 going to end up as a photo on a website devoted to photography?
Only time will tell....

This is a great photo take with the my new 35mm 1.8G lens. Picture is taken with available light.
